THE GREATNESS OF GOD

Have you ever imagined how big God is? Have you ever thought about His omnipotence and omniscience? What about His omnipresence? We were looking at His goodness the other time and we saw that He is not just good, He is goodness personified. Now let us look at His awesome greatness.

We cannot talk about God without looking into the Bible anytime we want to examine the character or nature of God. In the Book of Psalms chapter 93 and verse3 we read as follows:
3 “For the Lord is a great God and a great king above all gods”.
Again in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 10 and verse 17 we read as follows:
17 “For the Lord your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty and terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:”
This portion goes on to explain that God is great, as well as mighty and terrible.
King David of Israel we all know was one man who saw God do great things. He saw God use a little Sheppard boy whom He (God) had anointed, to slay a lion, then a bear, and then a giant reputed to be the super champion of his own time, when he tried to defy the armies of the living God. God used him to do amazing things. He therefore by the Spirit of God tells us in the book of 1 Chronicles chapter 29 and verses 10 to12 as follows:
10 “Wherefore David blessed the Lord before all the congregations: and David said, Blessed be thou, Lord God of Israel our father, forever and ever.
11 Thine, O Lord  ,  is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in heaven and in earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou is exalted as head above all.
12 Both riches and honor come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great and to give streghnth unto all”.
These verses followed a series of events in the Bible during which David told the congregation of Israel that although he had desired to build God a temple, God had refused him because he-David, was not qualified. God Himself had chosen his son Solomon to build him a temple. The one whom the Lord had chosen was still a child. King David did not want a shabby work to be done because this God is a great God. He therefore decided to gather Israel  together so that they can give towards the building of the temple. When they had finished giving, he was amazed, excited and elated and spoke those beautiful but great and true words above, about the greatness of God.
Talking about the omnipotence of God, we see His power demonstrated in the creation of the World. The Bible tells us in the book of Genesis, that in the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth. Many of us have not yet understood the concept of the heavens.

THE MYSTERY OF THANKSGIVIGS.

The front side of folios 13 and 14 of a Greek ...

There is a profound revelation about the power of gratitude and thanksgiving in the word of God! There is so much in the word especially in the life of Jesus(if you read the previous article),to support this. I will be using just one simple example from the book of Luke, chapter 17, and verses12-20.
In this portion of the scripture, ten lepers came to Jesus.
12-"And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Master, Jesus have mercy on us!
14 And when he saw them , he said unto them,Go shew yourselves unto the priests, and as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them when he saw he was healed,  turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God!
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving thanks, and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed, but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that came to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, arise and go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole."
The fact that only one of these lepers came back to the Lord to give thanks to him, was shocking to Jesus.
However, Jesus taught a great lesson here in that he restored wholeness to this man who was thankful.
His friends got healing, in that the germs which caused the leprosy were killed off, and the spirit of infirmity sustaining the disease was cast out.Their destroyed limb, toes, and fingers were probably not restored back.
I can however bet my life on it that this our friend who gave thanks to the Lord for his healing, experienced re creative miracles, restoring everything that he lost.
