REFLECTIONS ON THE GOODNESS OF GOD/BIBLICAL PROOFS OF GOD’S GOODNESS 1

A lot of times, we hear preachers, talk about God’s goodness. They say ‘God is good’ and many don’t understand what they mean! They wonder, if these preachers or Christians, or people are trying to be nice to God, or are they saying the truth, and what do these mean?
Firstly, I will like us to look at the meaning of good and goodness. The word good, according to the Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary could have several correct meanings, all of which are appealing to any one that is reasonable. The various words that I am talking about include: of high quality or an acceptable standard; pleasant; sensible/strong; favorable; skillful; morally right; following rules; healthy; useful/helpful; suitable; showing approval; large; at least i.e. rather more than; thorough; likely to provide, etc. However, it is important to note and to know, that none of these words can accurately describe the goodness of God. They may come close to doing it, but they don’t do it accurately. Why do I say that, ‘his ways, are not our ways, neither are his thoughts, our thoughts, for as the heavens are over the earth, so are his ways higher than our ways, and his thoughts, higher than our thoughts.’ It therefore becomes clear to us that we live in a World that does not know what real beauty is and therefore, cannot describe it accurately.
Recently, while watching a video CD of a conference, that held in the U.S.A.,I heard a popular Preacher talking about the legal system in the U.S.A. ,and he lamented first of all that no man had the right to hand out capital punishment to another human being. He then said that we know how to classify people, as good or bad, we categorize and lock them up in the computer of our hearts! Well, then he told the people the gospel truth, which is’ that there is evil, even in the best amongst us ‘.
He is very correct, because Jesus said exactly, the same thing. At one time, a man came to Jesus and asked him,’ Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?’17 And he said unto him, ‘why callest thou me good? There is none good, but one, that is God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.’
A popular Nigerian Pastor, while talking, about the goodness of God and of his unfailing love, said ‘,If you know about some of the things that I do, you may like me again, but God is not like that, His love is unconditional, and his mercy is unfathomable.’

Welcome to the House of hope

We live in a World that is full of ups and downs. There is so much noise and so much negative information, flowing out of our media houses that can terrify, even the stone hearted. The economic downturn being experienced by the most prosperous nations of the world, which has spread all over and will soon threaten the very existence of the so called -Third world nations, is no longer news. You and I already know some people who have lost their jobs.I personally lost huge sums of money just like many others , following the collapse of the Nigerian stock market.

Issues that have to do with health and the various challenges are not new to all of us.Many times, the doctors that we trust in their training and knowledge, fail woefully to deliver. We find out that they don't even know what our problem is, and even if they do, especially when certain types of cancer or viral ilnesseses, such as rabies or lassa fever ,and other dangerous haemohrragic fevers or certain congenital abnormalities are involved, it may require more than a doctor to save us.

Following these this things and many more, many live in fear, worry and anxiety, but there is even in the most hopeless of situations hope, because many can see the invisible, believe the impossible , and recieve the incredible. The house of hope is one stop place, where you will always be fired up to face any thing, successfully.
