In this second part we will look at the manifestations/signs of a low self esteem, and how to solve the problem.
Talking about the manifestations of a low esteem, it can manifest in so many ways, through words and actions, in the making of choices in the person’s emotions etc, .Emotionally speaking, there are feelings of worthlessness, helplessness, guilt, self blame and so on and so forth. Such individuals interpret a minor failing on their part as a sign of incompetence, or interpret a minor criticism as condemnation.
Often times a very low self esteem is a symptom of depression or could be associated with it. Certain activities that may have taken place in the life of such individuals combine to produce feelings of emotional and or spiritual death, example: - sexual abuse and sexual pervasions, drug abuse and criminal activities, and so on. Where major depression is involved, there may be a desire or an urge to end one’s life, i.e. suicide.
There may also be feelings of ugliness, and the mirror reflects someone ugly and repulsive .Even a very decent person, may feel deficient, cruel, stupid, phony or guilty of having deceived others.
Apart from these emotional manifestations, there are negative words and confessions, this person uses such terms as: poor me, a bad person like me, what do I have that I should…, I am not as rich, I am not as beautiful as, I have no University or maybe college education or degree, I am not going to last because of my illness so there is no need to….
When it comes to making choices in life, this person makes poor choices or low choices or of low quality. These people cannot aim high because they don’t believe that they are qualified for the good things of life. Thus they choose the little things, the small jobs, working for others, the poor and low and the ugly as life partners or friends. We ought to have a large heart that accommodates and loves everyone and anyone, and accepts and cherishes other people, no matter their class, but people with a low self esteem, feel easily intimidated, the moment they come into contact with the so called-rich ;powerful; beautiful; educated ;white-skin or some other color, depending on what they think they don’t have

YOU, YOUR SELF-ESTEEM AND SUCCESS 1

Self-esteem, which is also known as self-worth, sense of worth, self-image, self-respect, self-regard, sense of worth, self-assurance, self-pride, e .t .c., is defined as confidence in your own merit as an individual person. Your self –esteem has so much to contribute towards your success in life, and the achievement of your God given assignments, as well as your personal goals. When your self esteem is normal or good, you are primed for success, it is only a matter of time, if you work hard, and have God on your side.
Your self esteem can be abnormal in two ways, as follows: (a) Very high or high- this person has an over -bloated ego. He thinks of himself or she thinks of herself more highly than she ought to think. Notice that this is contrary to the word of God as it is written in the book of Romans chapter 12 verse 3,” For I say through the grace that is given unto me, to every man that is among you, not think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.”It therefore becomes clear why we should not allow ourselves to be overtaken by pride because as it is often said, ‘pride goes before a fall.’ Every good student of the manual of life knows that this was what led to the devil’s (Satan’s) downfall, and Saul losing his throne, and has led to the downfall of so many. I am also aware, that an over bloated ego may not just be because somebody wants to be proud , but because of a mental illness known as bipolar disorder or manic-depressive psychosis. It could also follow a temporary elation due to influence of hard drugs such as marijuana, this however clears as the effect of the poisonous substance wears away.
On the other side is (b), a very low or a low self-esteem. This person feels low and in fact lower than he or she is in actual life. This is the main problem that we want to discuss in this article, as well as the solution, because this has dealt with so many Christians, and destroyed their purpose in life. It is a mighty weapon in the hands of our already defeated enemy, and he wields it at us all the time. We must learn to handle it right and get God’s people the healing and the restoration they need.
Firstly, let’s look at the causes of a low esteem-there are many possible causes of low self esteem, and I am going to state the few that come to my mind now. Although I am not as psychologist, or an anthropologist, life’s experiences, the Holy Spirit as well as study, have shown me many things about what I am talking about here. Some causes of low self esteem are not known, whereas many are known, and amongst the known causes are: marital conflicts for those that are married, financial difficulty, some personal failure. Also note that many people with these problems do not necessarily have a low self esteem, so it all depends. Biological and psychological vulnerabilities, contribute to depression and a low self esteem. Feelings of ugliness, ageing, open humiliation, job loss, deformities and congenital anomalies, certain illnesses, especially incurable or life threatening.
The aspect of these people that concerns me a lot is the part that has to do with the message of condemnation spoken constantly, by some ministers of the gospel to their members, which makes them feel worthless and unqualified for anything that is good. Together with these are the abusive words spoken by some people to their relatives, e.g. parents to their children calling them fools, idiots, animals, e. t. c., as a way of training or correcting them. Other relatives, such as aunts and uncles, cousins, at times are the worst culprits in this unwarranted destruction of the hidden power of men and women that God has designed to propel them to destiny.

YOUR TONGUE/YOUR LIFE: 3

There is nothing that is really new, under the sun. The wise man (King Solomon), who wrote the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, states in Ecclesiastes Chapter 1 and verse9 thus:
“The thing that has been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done, is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the Sun”. This tells me that there is a common pattern or way of doing things, both in the times past, and in the present, and in the future. Human behavior and predicaments will always be the same. This means that if we look carefully into the manual of life, we will see an example of anything that man did, is doing, and will do. I am saying this because the story, narrated in the part two of this message has one, exactly like it in the Bible. In the book of 1 Samuel, chapter 31, we read the story of the demise of King Saul of Israel believe that you know the story of Israel’s first King, who started well but later messed up and was rejected latter by God and as such, could not remain in office, because God rejected him. Therefore he lost his anointing and protection from God. His enemies defeated him, but before he died, when he discovered that he had been wounded, he did something tremendous. He called out to his armor bearer, and said in 1 Samuel chapter 31 verse 4…Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith: lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me.” But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore, Saul took a sword and fell upon it.
5. And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him.6 So Saul died, and his three sons, and his amour bearer, and all his men, that same day together.
Thus we can clearly see that Saul finally took his own life, by falling upon his sword. Yet this very thing will cost a foolish young Amalekite his own life because of his ignorance of how to use his tongue aright, and his desire to impress someone and gain undeserved favor.
Thus in the Second book of Samuel, we read his story in the first chapter. He comes to David and narrates how that he met Saul distraught and desiring to die. And how that Saul looked behind and saw him, and pleaded with him to kill him (Saul), and how that he killed Saul.
This was offensive to King David, and he took it personal. He knew that the Amalekite did not know about the anointing of the Holy Spirit. He knew that God had said, that he who blesses the anointed, shall be blessed, but he who curses the anointed, shall be cursed. He also that the Lord had said, “Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm; this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me says the Lord”.1 Chronicles,15:22, Psalm 105:15
King David therefore ordered that he be executed, thus in 2 Samuel , chapter1, verse 11 we read, “Then David took hold of his clothes and rent them; likewise all the men that were with him: 12 And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until evening, for Saul and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the Lord, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.13 And David said unto the young man that told him, “Whence art thou?,(where are you from?), And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.14 And David said unto him, “ How was thou not afraid, to stretch forth thy hand, to destroy the Lord’s anointed?15 And David called one of the young men , and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him, and he died.
16 And David said unto him, Thy blood, be upon thy head, ; for thy mouth hath testified against thee
