HOW TO BECOME AN UNDEFEATED, AND AN INDEFATIGABLE SUPERCHAMPION

A Champion, is a word with many interesting definitions all of which I like. There is no body that is alive today, who will not like to become a champion, if not already one. I will like to remind us again of the definitions of the word champion. The Encarta dictionaries defines champion, as 1.supreme victor in a contest: somebody who competes in and wins in a contest, competition, or tournament, either alone or as a member of a team.2.winner of a show: something, e.g. an animal or plant that win first in a show.3.defender: a defender, supporter, or a promoter of somebody or something e.g. human rights.4. Remarkable person: a personal example of excellence or achievement.5.hero or warrior: a hero or warrior, especially a knight who fought in behalf of a monarch in former times.
In order to avoid confusion, and for the purpose of this discussion, we will be laying emphasis on the first and the fourth definitions that talk about winning in a contest, and becoming a personal example of success , excellence and achievement.
Recently, two very successful wrestlers visited a church in Nigeria, and the television reporters/crew of the T.V. station, a Christian television station asked them, “what are the secrets of your success?”, and one of them replied “I was into body building for many years”, in other words, he had been involved, in shaping up his body and building up his muscles in preparation for what was lying ahead. Then he continued, “I still work out in the gym, even though, I have not been actively involved in fights recently, but in those days, that was a very regular activity”, meaning that he was actively training his body to be able to stay fit, fresh and young all the time. As a medical practitioner, I can tell you that if you do not use your muscles, after sometime, they will shrink or atrophy. This is the reason; we must all exercise so as to keep our muscles working and remain healthy. This is equally important in preventing such diseases as hypertension and heart disease. Then he continued , “to be a successful wrestler, you have to have the heart to do it, and you have to pray about it so as to be sure that it is the will of God for your life.”, so now he talks about courage. It takes a lot of courage to endure a lot of pain, and since championship fights will always involve two or more experts who are very good at inflicting pain on their opponents so as to force them, into submission, you have to develop a very high level of tolerance for pain. You really have to be a courageous person. He did not stop there, “the ability to wrestle, is a gift from God, so you have to cherish it, and appreciate it, and know that the one who gave it to you, is watching over you”, that is another way of saying always be thankful to God for giving you such a gift, and trust Him to protect you and the gift that he has given you. Another wrestler, from Moscow who was undefeated for many years, after one of his wins, was asked by the commentator, “what sets you apart from other wrestlers?”, and he said, that he was trained by a popular training school in Russia, well known for its discipline and great combination of skills. These are the reasons for our products outshining others in the Olympics.
